Strengthening Kinship Families Through Trauma-Informed Prevention
Kinship Connect ATL is a prevention-focused organization committed to stabilizing kinship caregivers before everyday stressors turn into larger disruptions or child welfare involvement.
We work alongside schools and community partners to support caregiver capacity and student stability — intervening early so families don’t have to reach crisis.
Why Kinship Families Need Targeted Support
Kinship caregivers — grandparents, relatives, and fictive kin — often step in unexpectedly to raise children.
Unlike traditional foster placements, many do this without formal training, consistent financial support, or structured system guidance.
When early stressors go unaddressed, stability can quickly become fragile.
We believe early stabilization protects both caregivers and children.
Our Prevention Support Model
Kinship Connect ATL operates through a trauma-informed support approach designed to strengthen both caregivers and youth.
Our work centers on:
• Caregiver support — advocacy, routine building, and navigating systems
• Youth support — emotional regulation and coping skill development
• Case coordination — thoughtful referrals and stability planning
• Warm partnerships — collaborative communication with schools and agencies
Current Phase:
We are currently piloting stabilization-focused initiatives as Phase 1 of this broader prevention model, beginning with targeted support that addresses immediate household stressors affecting school stability.
PARTNER WITH US
We collaborate with school systems and community agencies to address early risk factors impacting kinship families.
Our goal is not to replace existing services — but to strengthen them through structured, referral-based stabilization support.
If you’re interested in exploring partnership, we welcome the conversation.
What We Aim to Strengthen
Through structured stabilization initiatives, we work to:
• Reduce short-term household instability
• Strengthen caregiver confidence and capacity
• Support school stability and engagement
• Mitigate early risk factors before escalation
Prevention requires intention and structure. We bring both.
